About

Peter Birthisel

My journey with Indian motorcycles started at 23 when I traded a FJ 1100 Yamaha for a box of rusty parts to build my first Indian. From Scouts and Chiefs to Bobbers and Vindian, My passion led me to Class C racing, where I've built and raced six bikes since 2009. Racing has become a lifelong thrill, from setting records at Lake Gairdner to competing in the Burt Munro challenge and races at Sellicks Beach. As a longtime member of the Indian Motorcycle club of Australia, I've organized rallies with my wife Toni and enjoyed riding with our kids Mason and Hannah. Ultimately, I find joy in riding these incredible machines, whether on road, track, sand, or salt.

About

Mason Birthisel

Introduced to Indian motorcycles from birth, I grew up immersed in the culture, helping in the shed and attending Indian rallies. Building my first bike, a 1926 Indian Prince, at 13, I honed my skills while learning to ride on my dad's 1944 Chief sidecar.

Despite eventually selling it to acquire an Indian 741 chopper, motorcycles remained central to my life. From collecting and repairing old push bikes to restoring cars like my 1977 HX panel van, my passion for mechanics evolved. This led me to become a qualified small motor mechanic, and through my apprenticeship received more experience in various vehicles, including boats and four-wheelers. I've been racing solo handshift since 2012 and enjoy sidecar races whenever possible. When my father proposed the idea for Indian Engineering Australia in 2019, I eagerly embraced the opportunity, excited for the future and the possibilities ahead.
